Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc. now trading as Meadow Heights Education Centre commenced operations in 1994 in Shop 24 at Meadow Heights Shopping Centre.

Statement of Purpose: The Learning Shop aims to improve the quality of life through adult education in a safe non-threatening enviroment for the community, in the areas of education, recreation, leisure and children's services.

  • Initially the Learning Shop provided classes in, Computer Programs (Introduction to Word, Excel), Bookeeping (MYOB) and ESL classes. Since this time, Meadow Heights Education Centre has continued to grow to meet primarily the learning needs of the residents of Hume Municipality and surrounding areas of Melbourne.
  • Today Meadow Heights Education Centre (a Learn Local Provider, a registered training organisation and Neighbourhood House) operates from the Visy Cares Learning Centre (3-13 Hudson Circuit), Shop 24 and Buchan Street Community Centre. Meadow Heights Education Centre also operates ESL and Vocational Classes out of a further 14 centres around Melbourne.

The prime operation of Meadow Heights Education Centre is at the Visy Cares Learning Centre. This modern building was donated by the Pratt Foundation in 2003. It is a modern building providing excellent Educational Setting, an Occasional Care Room, Maternal Health Facilities and a core of computers to support the technology needs of the Meadow Heights Residents.

Meadow Heights Education Centre is a contractor for Melbourne Polytechnic to provide

  • AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program)

M.H.E.C is a Registered Training Organisation (R.T.O 3940) and provides educational programs

  • from Pre-Accredited to Diploma Levels. The two diploma classes offered by Meadow Heights Education Centre are:
  • Diploma of Beauty
  • Education Support

Meadow Heights Education Centre provides free services to support the youth of the Hume Municipality by running the computer club house for students from year 4 to VCE. The computer Club House is part of the World Wide Intel Program.

M.H.L.S being a Neighbourhood House provides many programs to support the residents of Hume. Some of the community programs provided are:

  • Retired Group Men’s Activities
  • Chat at MHEC
  • Computer/Internet Classes
  • Community Kitchen
  • Women’s Kitchen
  • Job Search Skills
  • Meditation Group
  • Free Tax Help
  • Volunteering to Employment

Meadow Heights Learning Shop is focused at all times on providing quality educational programs at affordable prices. M.H.L.S provides additional assistance to their students to ensure that they succeed.

Many of the programs offered by M.H.L.S are focused on assisting students to find employment and prosperity.

Meadow Heights Learning Shop is a Learn Local Provider, an organisation which is committed to providing quality adult learning programs to members of the local community.

Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc. is a Consortium Member of the A.C.E Plus Group.

The function of this group is to run a wide range of accredited Vocational Programs to residents of the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.

Meadow Heights Learning Shop also provides excellent room hire facilities.
