Pathways

Who is this course for?: 

This course is designed for those that have had almost no previous experience with using or operating a computer for personal use. this may include:

  • Older or mature aged people with no previous computer experience wanting to learn for personal interest or to keep in contact with family and friends online.
  • Anyone who has a very limited knowledge of computers.
  • People wishing to refresh or acquire new skills.
  • Those with basic computer skills that do not know how to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or other digital applications.
  • People from non-English speaking backgrounds (see enterance requirements)
Job Roles: 

This qualification provides for basic computer skills in the workplace and supplement existing roles in other industries where basic computer skills have become necessary.

The course is designed for: 

The Certificate I in Information, Digital Media & Technology is made up of 6 units - 4 core and 2 electives - chosen by Meadow Heights Education Centre to provide students with a broad range of skills to be able to operate a personal computer, and use basic applications.

Entrance Requirements: 

There are no formal entrance requirements. Applicants are expected to have language and literacy skills equivalent to Level 2 and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 1 of the Certificate of General Education for Adults to enable them to complete most courses.

To be eligible for Funded position you must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident.Applicants must not hold a qualification at this level or above.

Payments can be made via:

  • Cash
  • Cheque (payable to Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc.)
  • EFTPOS (available at reception between 9am and 4pm)

  • Direct Debit
    -Students pay via Net Bank or
    -Students visit their bank and arrange to have a fortnightly/weekly/monthly amount to be deposited into the MHLS Account

Course charges 2016
All course charges are fully inclusive and include enrolment fees, course and amenities charges and materials if required.

Enrolment Procedures: 

To enrol in this course you will need to come in to our office at the Visy Cares Learning Centre, 3-13 Hudson Circuit, Meadow Heights between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.  You will be asked to complete and enrolment form. For this course you will be asked to sit a pre-assessment test if you do not have a Certificate III or higher. You have 1 hour to complete the test so allow yourself one hour and a half to enrol.Upon enrolment, you will be asked for

  1. proof of ID (a current drivers license /key pass /proof of age card, A current Australian or New Zealand Passport
  2. a current green Medicare card /Australian Birth Certificate//Proof of Permanent residency etc.). 
  • If you are a concession card holder, bring your current Health Care Card.
  • Please bring any prior education certificates you may hold as you may be eligible for Credit Transfers
  • Your USI (Unique Student Identification) number if you have one.

Further Information

Materials: 

All participants will need to supply;

  • a notebook and pen
  • an A4 ring binder (or equivalent for holding handouts etc)
  • A USB stick

Tea and Coffee will be provided. Please feel free to bring snacks to class
