Who is this course for?: 

This course is designed for anyone wanting to undertake work in the retail industry in a variety of settings such as : Speciality Stores, Supermarkets, Department Stores, and Retail Fast Food Outlets.This may include:

  • Early school leavers.
  • Those wanting to gain employment in the retail industry.
  • People who are currently employed in the retail industry and would like to obtain a formal qualification.
  • Job seekers who are wanting to broaden their employment options.
  • Anyone wanting to gain a new skill.

Job Roles: 

Clients who successfully complete this course can preform roles such as:

  • provide product and service advice in a retail store
  • sell products and services in a variety of retail settings
  • work as a checkout operator
  • check stock and replenish shelves
  • organise and maintain work areas and displays.
The course is designed for: 

The Certificate II in Retail Services course is made up of 14 units - 8 Core and 6 electives - chosen by Meadow Heights Education Centre to provides students witht he skills and know-how to have a successful career in the retail industry. 

Entrance Requirements: 

All applicants must be permanent  residents of Australia and currently reside in Victoria.Prior qualifications are not required to enrol in this course, though applicants are expected to have a language and literacy skills equivalent to Level 3, and numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 of the Certificate in General Education for Adults to enable them to comprehensively understand and complete the course work.All applicants must sit a short entrance test before their enrolment in this course.

The retail industry is vast. Supermarkets, department stores, and fast food outlets are always on the hunt for new employees, this qualification can give those looking for a job in the industry a helping hand at gaining one of the many postions available.

Course Charges: 

All charges are fully inclusive and include enrolment fees, course and amenities charges and materials if required.

To be eligible for a funded position applicants must not hold a qualification equal to or higher than this level, either completed in or recognised in Australia.

Making Payments: 

Payments can be made via:

  • Cash
  • Cheque (payable to Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc.)
  • EFTPOS (available at reception between 9am and 4pm)
  • B-Pay if required or Net Bank Transfer
  • Direct Debit
    -Students pay via Net Bank or
    -Students visit their bank and arrange to have a fortnightly/weekly/monthly amount to be deposited into the MHLS Account

Enrolment Procedures: 

To enrol in this course you will need to come in to our office at the Visy Cares Learning Centre, 3-13 Hudson Circuit, Meadow Heights between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.  You will be asked to complete and enrolment form. 

Upon enrolment, you will be asked for

If you require further information or what forms of ID we accept please

    1. proof of ID (a current drivers license /key pass /proof of age card, A current Australian or New Zealand Passport
    2. a current green Medicare card /Australian Birth Certificate//Proof of Permanent residency etc.). 
    • If you are a concession card holder, bring your current Health Care Card.
    • Please bring any prior education certificates you may hold as you may be eligible for Credit Transfers
    • Your USI (Unique Student Identification) number if you have one.

Further Information


All participants will need to provide:

  • A notebook and pen
  • An A4 ring binder (or equivalent for holding handouts etc.)
  • A USB stick
