Placement: 

Students are required to work 65 nominal hours in a salon environment providing beauty service treatments for the public.

  • Meadow Heights Educaton Centre conducts a Salon for the public one day per week where students are able to complete their hours under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
  • Students if they prefer may find a placement of their own choice where they will be assessed at the workplace on completion of required hours.
Duration: 

Semester 1 Enrolments 2018:  3 days per week. - January 29th 2018 - August 2018 (excluding school and public holidays) Monday,  Wednesday & Friday 9:00am-5:00pm    2 days per week. - January 30th 2018 - December 2018 (excluding school and public holidays) Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am - 5:00pm

Taster Course: 

Meadow Heights Education Centre offers an introductory course for those who are interested in the Beauty Services industry but are unsure whether to undertake the full Certificate III in Beauty Services course: If you follow the link below to our Pre-Accredited courses you will find more information. Who is this course for?: 

SHB30115 - Certificate III in Beauty Services is for anyone wanting to start a career in the Beauty industry. If you have ever had an interest in Make-up, Manicures and Pedicures, Lash and Brow Treatments or Waxing then why not learn how to do it professional. This course has had some changes this year to incorporate 2 new units Spray Tanning and Lash Extensions, this is very exiting as these subjects have been in high demand.   Enrollments will commencing in 2018 , you are still able to leave you details for a call back.      In 2018, MHEC is offering two classes (subject to enrollments) 1 class for 2 days finishing in December and a new trial class for 3 days ending in late August. We envisage that students are able to enter the employment market earlier than that of school leavers thus enhancing greater employment opportunities.

The course is designed for: 
  • This course is for anyone who may have an interest in this field
  • The old and the young from school leavers to grandparents
  • People wishing to refresh or acquire new skills
  • Early secondary school leavers interested in this field
  • People who have been absent from the work force
  • People who have completed an Introduction to Beauty Services course and would like to gain a full qualification.
Entrance Requirements: 

All applicants must be permanent residents of Australia.

Prior qualifications are not required to enrol in this course, though applicants are expected to have language and literacy skills equivalent to Level 3 and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the Certificate of General Education for Adults to enable them to complete this course.

All applicants are required to sit a short entrance test before being accepted into this course unless they hold an Australian recognised Certificate III or higher.  Please bring your certificate with you on enrolment day as you may be eligible for a credit transfer.

Fees & Charges

Course Charges: 

All charges are fully inclusive and include enrolment fees, course amenities charges and materials includes a Teaching Assistant's Handbook.

Concession : A person who holds a current Centrelink Health Care Card and does not hold a qualification equal or higher than Certificate III recognised in Australia.

Funded:     A person who  does not hold a qualification equal to or higher than this level, either completed in or recognised in Australia.

Fee for Service:  A person who holds a Certificate III or higher, this does not include Language and Litteracy.

REFUNDS:  Refunds are returned on tuition only up and until the first 4 weeks of course commencement date, any attendance past 4 weeks of commencement date will incur the full cost of course.. (please see student handbook) and a $200 administration fee will apply on any cancellations. Withdrawl forms are available at the office.

PAYMENT PLANS:  Tailored payment plans are available to help relieve the financial burden of some course fees.  This is available to all students however conditions do apply, please speak to one of our staff members for more information.

Enrolment Procedures: 

To enrol in this course you will need to come in to our office at the Visy Cares Learning Centre, 3-13 Hudson Circuit, Meadow Heights between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.  You will be asked to complete and enrolment form. 

For this course you will be asked to sit a pre-assessment test if you do not have a Certificate III or higher. You have 1 hour to complete the test so allow yourself one hour and a half to enrol.

Upon enrolment, you will be asked for

  1. proof of ID (a current drivers license /key pass /proof of age card, A current Australian or New Zealand Passport
  2. a current green Medicare card /Australian Birth Certificate//Proof of Permanent residency etc.). 
  • If you are a concession card holder, bring your current Health Care Card.
  • Please bring any prior education certificates you may hold as you may be eligible for Credit Transfers
  • Your USI (Unique Student Identification) number if you have one.

Materials: 

The majority of the materials used in the Certificate III in Beauty Services course are provided in the material component of the fees. Materials purchased by Meadow Heights Education Centre are at a reduced price due to bulk buying. Students who wish to provide their own identical materials are provided with a material list. Please note, materials used in class are hypo-allergenic as some people may have allegies, we ask that you purchase the identical or equivalent materials to ensure the safety of all participants. Students who provide their own materials are asked to bring them to each class.

Models: 
Some practical modules in this course will require students to provide their own models. Teachers will inform students when this is necessary. It is up to the student to provide models not the school.

Some consumables MUST be provided by the students throughout the duration of the course, these include: hand towels, cotton balls, tissues, etc. ... Also students are to bring with them pens, notebook, 2 ring folders for handouts and a USB flash drive.
