The duration of the Certificate varies as not all students will progress at the same time especially in learning a new language. The average student will usually be enrolled for one year, however some students progress faster than others. Students are assessed throughout the year and may pass all subjects to gain entry to the next level prior to the end year date.


Who is this course for?: 

This course is for people who would like to improve their English Language who have completed a Course in Certificate II Spoken and Written English or who have been assessed at this level. 

  •  If you are new to Australia you may be eligible for funding through the A.M.E.P (510 free hours for eligible migrants). The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government.
  •         If you are not eligible for the AMEP program you still may be eligible for some assistance through Skills First Funding (State Government)
  •         Contact the office and see if you qualify for Skills First Victoria funding for concession Card holders and those who do not hold a higher certificate              For more information please read more.
Possible Job Titles: 

An awarded Certificate III level in Spoken and Written English will assist you finding Employment of further education opportunities such as other Certificate III's in a course of your choice such as:

  • Certificate III in Education Support
  • Certificate III in Beauty Services
  • Certificate III in Community Services 
Entrance Requirements: 
  • ·       You must be a permanent resident of Australia or have the correct Visa Classification to study in Australia.
  •          You must have completed the course in Preliminary, Spoken and Written English, or
  •          been assessed by a qualified assessor to be higher than a Certificate II and lower than a Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English
  •          If you would like to be assessed, please phone the office for an appointment 93019200
  •       ​(There is a charge for an assessment however this will be deducted from your course fees on commencement)

Fees & Charges

Course Charges: 

All charges are fully inclusive and include enrolment fees, course and amenities charges and materials if required.

  • ·       The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government. ( if you are eligible there is no charge, this includes childcare at the Meadow Heights Occasional Care for a three hour session 5 days per week)
  • ·       Skills First Funding - To be eligible for funded position applicants must not be enrolled for more than two funded courses per year.(Childcare is also available to students studying with MHEC at a small charge see Childcare Occasional Care for details)
