Placement: 

There are no placements required for this course however students are povided with an opportunity to work in a Salon environment providing beauty therapy treatments for the public who would like to make a donation.. Meadow Heights Education Centre conducts a Salon for the public one day per week where students are able to build confidence under the guidance of a qualified instructor.

Duration: 

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:00am - 5:00pm (Excluding Public Holidays)Dates to be announced:

  • usually school term dates.

 

Pathways

Who is this course for?: 

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy is for anyone who has successfully completed a Certificate III in Beauty Services and would like to gain extra skills to further their career. Once qualified you will be able to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommended beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products.  In this course you will work relatively autonomously and are accountable for personal outputs. Your work involves self-directed applications of knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas where judgement is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques, to own manage or work in a beauty salon or spa.

The course is designed for: 

For participants who have been awarded the Certificate III in Beauty Services and who would like to continue to study in this field.The Diploma of Beauty Therapy course is made up of 25 units - 13 Core and 12 Electives - (electives are chosen by Meadow Heights Education Centre)This course is a Nationally Recognised Qualification.

Entrance Requirements: 

All applicants must be permanent residents of Australia.A Certificate III in Beauty Services is required to enrol in this course. All applicants are expected to have language and literacy skills equivalent to Level 3 and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the Certificate of General Education for Adults to enable them to complete this course.All applicants are required to sit a short entrance test before being accepted into this course. (Students who are continueing from Certificate III in Beauty Services are exempt)

To be eligible for a funded position applicants must not hold a qualification equal to or higher than this level, either completed in or recognised in Australia.  (There are no concession prices for this course.)

Enrolment Procedures: 

To enrol in this course you will need to contact the office on 93019200 or come in to our office at the Visy Cares Learning Centre 3-13 Hudson Circuit, Meadow Heights. There you will be asked to complete an enrolment form and provide 3 forms of identification (1)  Current Drivers Liecene/key pass /proof of age card (2) A current green Medicare card /Australian Birth Certificate/A current Australian or New Zealand Passport/Proof of Permanent residency etc.).  (3) A current concession card/Health Card if eligible.

You then will be asked to sit a short entrance assessment. Once completed you will be provided with the course content, materials list and an option of a payment plan to help relieve and financial burdens.

Office hours are from 9:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Further Information

Materials: 

The majority of the materials used in the Diploma in Beauty Services course are provided in the material component of the fees. Materials purchased by Meadow Heights Education Centre are at a reduced price due to bulk buying. Students who wish to provide their own identical materials can be provided with a material list on request. Please note, materials used in class are hypo-allergenic as some people may have allergies ,we ask that you purchase the identical or equivalent materials to ensure the safety of all participants.  Students who provide their own materials are asked to bring them for each class.

All makeup and skincare products used in the Beauty courses at Meadow Heights Learning Shop are both top of the line and hypo-allergenic. These products include:

Models: 
Some practical modules in this course will require students to provide their own models. Teachers will inform students when this is necessary.
Other: 
Some consumables MUST be provided by the students throughout the duration of the course, these include: hand towels, cotton balls, tissues, etc. Also students are to bring with them pens, notebook, folders for handouts and a USB flash drive.
