The staff at the Meadow Heights Learning Shop (now Meadow Heights Education Centre) became some of the millions of people world wide to be nominated to complete the ALS/MND Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a debilitating and fatal disease. The challenge, which originated in the United States and quickly spread around the globe, involves nominees to empty a bucket of ice water on their heads. On September 19th, 2014 seven staff from our centres: Teachers Arlene, Fiona, Nader, and Muzaffer; Clubhouse Assistant Luke; and Administration Assistants Abi and Rebecca, completed the challenge. Thanks to the dontations of the students (at the Visy Cares Learning Centre, Buchan Street Community and Shop 24) and the staff and board members of the Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc. we have raised almost $900 for MND Victoria.Video of the event will be posted as soon as it is available.
