Duration: 

The duration of the Certificate varies as not all students will progress at the same time, especially in learning a new language. The average student will usually be enrolled for one year; however some students progress faster than others. Students are assessed throughout the year and may pass all subjects to gain entry to the next level prior to the end year date.

Who is this course for?: 

This course is for people who have no or very little English, it is based on the alphabet and numbers from 1 - 100   (very similar to a Australian Prep class)

  •   If you are a newly arrival to Australia you may be eligible for A.M.E.P (510 free hours for eligible migrants). The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Government.
  •   If  you are not eliglble for AMEP you may be eligible for Skills First Victoria Funding, please contact the office 93019200 our staff will assist you with your enquiry.

Entrance Requirements: 
  • You must be a permanent resident of Australia or have the correct Visa classification for studying in Australia
  • You are required to be assessed by a qualified assessor if you have never been assessed in Australia for English & Numeracy levels·
  • If you would like to be assessed, please phone the office 93019200 for an appointment.
  • (There is a charge for an assessment however this will be deducted from your course fees on commencement)

Meadow Heights Education Centre's Teachers are fully qualified and experienced.

Fees & Charges

Course Charges: 

All charges are fully inclusive and include enrolment fees, course and amenities charges and materials if required.

  • If you are new to Australia you may be eligible for funding through A.M.E.P (510 free hours for eligible migrants). 
  •  The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government. ( if you are eligible there is no charge, this includes childcare at the Meadow Heights Occasional Care for a three hour session 5 days per week)
  • Skills First Funding - To be eligible for funded position applicants must not be enrolled for more than two funded courses per year.(Childcare is also available to students studying with MHEC at a small charge see Childcare Occasional Care for details)

Enrolment Procedures: 

To enrol in this course you will need to come in to our office at the Visy Cares Learning Centre and fill out one of our enrolment forms. Upon enrolment you will be asked for proof of ID

  1. a current drivers license /key pass /proof of age card
  2. a current green Medicare card
  3. an Australian Birth Certificate/A current Australian or New Zealand Passport/Proof of Permanent residency etc.).
